Washing their hands in the fountain

Have no idea where we were.  This was on Saturday after we walked 50 miles to the National Archives and had to walk 50 miles back.  I'm sorry to say that we spent $12 on 4 nasty icecreams from the icecream truck.
This is prob a picture of them washing their hands after their icecreams melted over their hands.

Emily's future home

Well now we know where a lot of our tax dollars go!  The Guys in Purple must do their lawn too!
This is also a shot of Emily's future home.  She kept saying this all weekend.  Just ask her the next time you see her.

Blooms

Yes they were blooming and drew out TOO many people!!!!!  Alex was done with walking.  He totally didn't want to take a picture!  Lol

Our only family picture in Washington

Bad angle for momma!  Moo!

Nam Wall

Another memorial that I was looking forward to seeing in person was the Vietnam War a Memorial.  This one holds special meaning not only bc The Lord protected my Daddy from being a name on this wall, but also bc I did a school project on it.  I remember Dad and I creating the wall on poster board.  It was supposed to be life-like but instead of scribbling names on the wall I did something more "contemporary" and wrote "58,2??" on the wall.  Needless to say the teacher didn't like it and gave me a C.  Boo!
But really the wall was very moving!

The big Pencil

It was nice to see the big pencil again.  We were on one of our 1000 mile treks and I noticed a shadow fall over me and noticed the pencil was blocking the sun right at its peak.  Kind of cool.

Tomb of the Unknown

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  We got there right before 12 noon and we got to see the changing of the guard.  The ceremony and routine that they go through is not only amazing but beautiful.  A soldier even played Tapps.  I'd say the cemetery in Arlington was my favorite site to see.  I was in awe of not just the beautiful spring day and landscape but the beautiful rows and rows and rows of headstones.  It's very moving.  Wish I would have taken pics of the rows.
