First attempt at home made Biscuits

Ok, here they are. I make hocky pucks! At least they're the way I like them. They're pretty and they actually pretty good. I don't get why they didn't rise. I even put baking power in it. Oh, well...

They were actually really good. It is a Paula Deen recipe. I had no idea HOW to make them. There is NO Bisquick in this, it's all natural flower.

Ok, Mom and Dad, I have a whole new appreciation for real biscuit makers. I'm sure there is a real technique to making them, but it comes with practice. Truly. They DO take a long time to do and its really messy! Oh well, we'll see if there's a next time. =)

I wish I had Maw-Maw Yearout here to watch and observe her.

  1. They look good to me -- maybe a little over-done on the bottom and under-done on top. I always bake them on the top rack so that the tops and bottoms get brown at the same time. I'm curious why you used baking powder. Did you also use plain flour?
